Rama, 2007

A dancefilm exercise featuring Bharata Natyam dancer Rama Vaidyanathan performing her mayur-alarippu or peacock dance. Shot in Delhi, India, the film explores the graphic possibilities of diptychs and quads, experimenting with the dance while keeping it in sync with the original choreography and music. The integrity of the traditional classical Indian dance is preserved through the fragmentation of the frame.
